Vessel System Design.

We are passionate about the detail of design. We understand that a vessel’s systems are integral to how a boat operates and how well it performs its mission. Every aspect an EMS system is meticulously thought through with the vessel’s concept and end user in mind.

We pride ourselves in maintaining the most up-to-date sector knowledge and understanding of marine technologies so that we can offer solutions which optimise performance and efficiency. Our designs have the user experience, maintenance, cost effectiveness and sustainability considerations at their core.

We work with naval architects, shipyards, OEMs, and captains and owners of both new build and refit vessels to produce a complete systems package or we can work with you to design specific system.

What we do.

  • Design consultancy, including electrification, hybridisation and alternative fuel design support.

  • Owner/Technical representation – we can provide independent machinery and system design reviews.

  • Technical specification development and tendering support.

  • Complete vessel system design across mechanical, electrical, domestic and hydraulic disciplines.

  • Supply of IACS Classification and Flag State compliant design

  • Full systems production engineering, equipment selection and detailed weight estimates.

Recent Projects.

  • Archipelago zero 63 - Methanol Fuelled Expedition Yacht

The first leisure vessel of its kind with methanol-reforming fuel cell technology and a methanol combustion engine. EMS supplied the machinery specification & requirements, mechanical systems design as well as range and weight estimates.

  • Pelagic 77

The Pelagic 77, a high latitude expedition charter vessel required a design philosophy which prioritised systems which could withstand some of the harshest conditions in the world and that a yacht crew, operating in remote areas can service without specialist help.

  • Arksen 65 Explorer Yacht

EMS delivered a full design package for mechanical, electric, domestic systems for this new generation of explorer motor yacht. This included 2D system schematics, BOM, a 3D design model and production drawings.

  • BARTech 30m Crew Transfer Vessel

This vessel’s innovative hull design meant a weight and space sensitive design was paramount. EMS delivered mechanical and domestic class and production designs, providing a complete 3D systems model to support routing, equipment placement, access for servicing and detailed weight calculations.

  • Seacat Weatherly CTV

Seacat Weatherly is a first in class, Chartwell 24m Crew Transfer Vessel. EMS designed mechanical and domestic systems, providing 2D production drawings and 3D model.

  • HST Ella CTV

EMS supplied the mechanical and domestic systems design, delivering production drawings in 2D and 3D for this first-in-class hybrid Crew Transfer Vessel.

  • Sea Ranger MMS 55

EMS designed the electrical system on this Category A ocean going cruiser, its hull based on a proven fishing trawler design, built in Hull by MMS.
